Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:
Do the theme photos come with the website package?
For licensing reasons, the images shown in the theme demos are not included with your package. They are for display purposes only. It’s important for business owners to distinguish their brand by using images unique to them. You will have an opportunity to provide photos for the home page of your website. We'll do the rest.
We recommend using professional high quality photos that are at least 1800px by 1000px in size. For those with a smaller budget, we suggest using stock images from places like Shutterstock or Adobe Stock. Once you've sourced your own images we'll prompt you to upload the images to a Dropbox for use on your website.
For a more custom approach, you can request a quote on our photography services. Remember, you only have one chance to make a good first impression.
Can I further customize my website at some point in the future?
You bet. Our startup website packages can be further customized at any point.
To begin, you choose a website layout from our selection of themes. We build it for you using your brand logo, your choice of available colour option, your own carefully curated images, and your personally branded content. Your website will be built on a content management system (CMS) called WordPress and powered by the Genesis Framework, which are completely open source. What does that mean? It means that code can be customized to your hearts content, at any point now or in the future.
Since customization is our specialty, think of asking us to quote when you are ready to get a little more ambitious!
Are there any other fees I should be aware of?
Yes, domain name registration fees and website hosting fees will be your responsibility and are not included in the price of your website package. Read on for more information.
The cost to search and/or register domain names is not included in our website packages. You will need to check availability and register your own domain name(s). You can expect domain name registration charges to range from $12/year to $17/year USD per domain name. Some registrars charge an extra fee for privacy protection. Privacy protection is recommended.
We will require login credentials to your domain name registrar when it's time to launch your new website.
Although set up of website hosting is included in your package, the website hosting fees are not included. You can expect hosting charges to range from $100/year to $150/year USD. When we set up your website hosting account, it will be under your name, and on your credit card so that you own it!
We don't provide hosting services ourselves, we recommend and set up your website on a best-in-class hosting provider. If you should require our assistance with domain name registration there would be an additional fee for that service.
Once my website is live do you provide support?
One of the biggest concerns business owners have is related to online security and how to protect their website from malware and hackers once it's launched. Website maintenance is not included with purchase of a website theme package; however, you can purchase and activate a maintenance plan with us at any time.
We cannot guarantee that your website will never be compromised (no one can!) but prevention, regular maintenance, and security monitoring are always the best deterrents. We will prompt you during checkout if you wish to inquire about website maintenance.
We do not provide website customization support. We do not teach PHP, CSS, or HTML. When you purchase a website package from us, we build and deploy it on your behalf in the theme colour you choose from the options available. Knowledge of code is not mandatory for basic tasks like blogging or revising content.
Custom design services are not included with the website packages offered here; however, we welcome all custom web design inquiries.
Are home page featured areas flexible?
Yes, some website theme packages have flexible featured areas. If your theme of choice shows featured blog posts on the demo home page; but, you decide not to have a blog, we can simply remove that section.
Some website theme packages show posts and pages in a specific home page featured area. For those sections, you have the option to choose pages, posts, or a combination of both. If the section only shows posts, or only shows pages, it means that section is likely not interchangeable within the basic theme package pricing.
Of course, any of our website theme packages can be further customized now or in the future. We would be happy to provide a quote. During the checkout process you will be prompted to identify any custom service requests.
Do you write the content for my website?
No. You will have an opportunity to provide your content to us for each page of the website including the home page featured areas. Content must be uploaded to our special form within 30 days. Content submitted any other way will not be accepted. You must use the form provided. In this package, we limit our content placement services to 5 pages and no more than 1000 words per page.
At that time we will also ask you to identify 4 standard pages for the navigation menu. We recommend an About Page, Services Page, Testimonials Page, and Contact Page. A Blog is automatically included with all packages.
We recommend that you carefully proofread your content before uploading to our servers. We do not proofread or edit the content in any way.
If we have not received content from you within 30 days of purchase the website is launched without content. Instead of a logo your business name will be added using a font native to the theme.

What is SEO and how does it relate to my website content?
When you write your own website content, you should do some keyword research and write your website content strategically so that it attracts search engines and helps people find your products/services. This is part of a process we call Search Engine Optimization or SEO.
That way when someone does a search using specific keywords related to your product/services, search engines will include your website in the list of relevant websites they should visit.

If I purchase the Shop Pro Theme Package will I be able to upload my own products?
Yes, you'll be able to add your own products, change the status of an order, print invoices, and track sales.
One of the bonuses of purchasing any of our website packages, is that you get 3 months of FREE access to online video tutorials specific to each Theme, including how to manage storefront products for the Shop Pro Theme.

Can I add a shopping cart to any theme?
Yes, you can add a shopping cart to any theme. The Shop-Pro Website Theme Package includes a shopping cart at no additional cost. For all other theme packages the addition of a shopping cart would be considered a customization. During the purchase process, you can indicate if you wish to receive a quote for this add-on service or you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Am I tied to Original Ginger's Services In Any Way?
Nope. Once we’ve built your site, it is fully portable and fully customizable. You directly own everything from the domain name to the content on the site. Of course, we are always available to discuss and quote on customization, maintenance, content writing, video, and photography services should you need us.
Do website packages include logo design?
Website packages do not include logo design. Following the checkout process we will prompt you to upload your brand logo to our servers in eps, ai, or png file format.
If you don't have a logo, we will use your company name in the default font as shown in the website theme demo.
Custom logo design services are available from us at your request and quoted separately from website theme packages. During the checkout process you will be prompted to identify any custom service requests.
Do website packages include video?
Website packages do not include embedding video on your website. If you have a basic understanding of WordPress already, you may be able to add video yourself, once the website is launched.
If you are new to WordPress, and require our assistance, we can quote this service separately. During the checkout process you will be prompted to identify any custom service requests.
Will my website be easy to use?
Of course. We provide you with theme specific video tutorials to show you how to add your own pictures and manage content following website launch.
We don’t cover advanced software development topics such as html, css, php, or jquery but then we don’t really need to. The website is already built and ready for you to use.
Can I get a refund if I don't like my website?
Your website will be deployed to hosting in full working order, just as you see in the demo. Demo photos are replaced with images you upload to our servers. Up to 5 pages of content are added, as provided by you. There are no surprises. Once we begin work setting up hosting or a website is deployed we have a no return, no refund policy. All sales are final. You will be asked to acknowledge our terms and conditions during the purchase process.
Will I get to speak to a customer service representative?
Following purchase of a website package you'll receive a link by email prompting you to upload your logo and content to our servers. Once you upload your content, you'll receive a confirmation email scheduling date and time for a 1/2 hour service call to the telephone number you provided. During the call a customer service representative will discuss hosting set up, image uploads, and any customization you may have requested. All calls are schedule during regular office hours Pacific Standard Time (PST). No exceptions. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9am to 4:30pm.
Following your personal call with customer service, we’ll send you an email confirming next steps for development and deployment of your new website. At project end, you’ll receive key info and a member link to our video tutorials with 3 months access.
NOTE: Customer services calls are not available to locations outside of Canada or the USA.
How quickly will my website be ready to launch?
Typically, we are able to launch your website within a week; however, setting an actual launch date depends on how quickly you provide the information we require. Once you purchase a website package, we will ask you to upload your logo and content to our servers within 30 days of purchase. We also email you to schedule a service call to discuss hosting set up, image uploads, and any customization inquiries. If you delay sending us your logo and content, or you cannot be reached for any reason, this extends the expected delivery date. Any customization you request can also change the time frame.
Customer service calls and project work are completed during standard office hours which are Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 4:30pm PST.
Are social media icons set up as part of my website package?
Website packages do not include set up of social media icons unless otherwise shown in the demo for that theme. If you have a basic understanding of WordPress already, you may be able to add social media icons yourself, once the website is launched.
If you are new to WordPress, and require our assistance, there is a nominal fee for this service. During the checkout process you will be prompted to identify any custom service requests.
What shopping cart features are included with the Shop Pro Theme Website Package?
Our shopping cart of choice for the Shop Pro Theme is an "out of the box" solution called Ecwid. We choose Ecwid because it is one of the most robust e-commerce platforms around for small businesses and start ups. It's mobile responsive and fully customizable so it can grow with your business.
Ecwid considers us at Original Ginger to be Ecwid Experts because we've built tons of websites using their shopping cart. *Visit Ecwid if you'd like more info.
When you purchase the Shop Pro Theme Web Package it comes with a FREE version of the shopping cart already integrated for you. Although the FREE version limits some features and only allows up to 10 products and 2 categories in your store -- the next tier is priced at only $15/month USD and allows up to 100 products with bonus features like coupons and inventory management.
Following your purchase of this Theme, we'll configure basic shopping cart options for you as follows:
- Selling and Shipping Locations
- Taxes based on region for all Canadian Provinces. For the U.S. we limit to 10 but our online video tutorials will show you how to set up additional tax regions yourself;
- The currency of choice to display in your storefront;
- Your preferred weight and dimension units if applicable;
- Shipping fees limited to a single flat rate. More complex shipping set up is available but not included in our theme package pricing. Once your website is deployed you can set up additional shipping options yourself;
- Set up of your email address for sales notifications;
- Addition of up to 5 products to get you started including one image for each product, a product description, price, colour and/or size(s) where applicable, inventory amount, weight, and dimension. Our online video tutorials will show you how to upload more products yourself, add multiple product images and more;
- PayPal Standard as the default payment gateway using your email address -- this is the email address you have associated with your PayPal account. You will be able to change this yourself after the website is deployed, if you wish;
- The ability to print invoices, update order status, and notify customers.
If you require other features for your storefront that are not listed above that means they are not included with the Shop Pro Website Theme Package. If you require additional features, you can further customize the shopping cart yourself once the website is deployed, OR request customization services from us by email at email@example.com.
